Description
Varietal
Black Mondeuse.
Typically Savoyard, this varietal is perfectly suited to the clay-limestone soil of the Jongieux vineyards, and gives strong bodied, concentrated wines which keep extremely well.
Its origins are linked to the Syrah grape in the Rhone valley.
Tasting
Originating in our best parcels of over 60 years, this private vintage is matured in 500 litre barrels for 12 months, followed by another 12 months in solid vats, giving a strong spicy nose with hints of violets, with flavours of ripe blueberries and blackberries.
The maturation requires a lot of patience to produce this long-keeping wine with delicate tannins.
Perfect for your more refined dishes (red meat in sauce, game, mountain cheeses…)
